The limestone texture design on these holds significantly affects the way you grip them. The intricate details on the landing areas and the realistic thumb catches provide a unique climbing experience that mimics real rock, yet offers more comfort than climbing on actual stone.
The XL size provides ample space for one hand, with enough extra room for matching, without being considered double-handers. This set has a larger surface area than the Large Limestone Slopers, making it ideal for setting easier routes on lower angles while still being suitable for steeper terrain. If you are using set #2 in steep terrain, we recommend incorporating volumes to compensate for the slope. Additionally, if you plan to set easy problems in low-angle terrain with set #2, using volumes would also be an excellent option..
We discovered that when using set #2 on our 25° wall, the holds felt moderately slopey and in the V6 range. However, on our 45° wall, they became significantly more challenging, resulting in us using volumes to set boulder problems V6 and harder.
